LIFT 07 - Re-Designing the City of the Future

 

This workshop will begin in the use of existing futures and critical foresight methods to understand how the future is being envisioned. Then using design research tools, participants will design social, technical, and business innovations that could exist in 2015 and 2025 regarding the future of the City. Key skills will be the integration of analysis with experience, foresight with design thinking, and building and communicating prototypes for the future.

 

Pre-Workshop Readings

 

 

The workshop venue is a large university building called UniMail located at 40 Boulevard du Pont d'Arve, near the Arve river. The UniMail building is located on the following routes: Trams No. 15 (stop: UniMail). The workshop room is 1140, it's located on the 1st floor.

09:10 Introduction to Critical Foresight (Bill Cockayne)

09:30 Critical Foresight exercise begins (Bill Cockayne and group work)

11:00 Moving from Critical Foresight to Innovation (group work)

12:00 Teams reconvene to share their finding, ideas, and projects.(group work)

12:45 Workshop conclusion: concluding observations and address the research challenge of working together, creatively (group work)
